Bangladeshi short film ‘Dyspepsia by Salty Biscuits’ has been selected for the 32nd Slamdance Film Festival, marking a notable international recognition for independent cinema from Bangladesh. The film will screen as part of the Narrative Shorts section at the 2026 edition of the festival.
Slamdance, known for championing emerging and unconventional voices, will take place in Los Angeles from February 19 to 25, with an additional virtual programme running until March 6. This will be the second consecutive year the festival is hosted in Los Angeles.
The selection places Dyspepsia by Salty Biscuits among a highly competitive international lineup, with films from more than 50 countries featured across the programme. Slamdance has announced that 50 of the 141 selected films will have their world premieres at the festival.
The festival organisers have emphasised diversity and inclusion in this year’s programme, with half of the films directed by female, trans or non-binary filmmakers, and more than 40 per cent created by Black, Indigenous and people of colour artists. Films by creators with visible and non-visible disabilities also form part of the lineup.
Slamdance co-founder Peter Baxter said the festival remains committed to supporting filmmakers and fostering creative dialogue at a time when the global film industry faces significant challenges.
