A Bangladeshi migrant worker has died in Kuwait amid rising military tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel and the US.
Ambassador of the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait, Major General Syed Tarek Hussain, confirmed the death.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Zayed, a resident of Ward 9 of Sandwip Municipality in Chattogram. He was the son of Kamal Dafadar.
Local sources said Zayed had been working in Kuwait and lost his life amid the recent conflict in the region. His family received the news with shock and relatives are still trying to gather further details about the circumstances of his death.
This marks the second death of a Sandwip resident working abroad since the escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
Earlier, amid the ongoing Middle East conflict, another expatriate from Sandwip, Abul Mohsin Tarek, 48, was killed on Monday (2 March) when missile debris fell on a ship near Manama in Bahrain.
Tarek was a resident of the Paharer Go Mosque area of Azimpur union in Sandwip upazila and had been working in Bahrain for 27 years.
The developments have heightened concern among families of Chattogram residents employed in Middle Eastern countries.
Relatives said the prolonged conflict has created deep anxiety over the safety of Bangladeshi workers in the region.
