The two-day Bangladesh-US 9th Land Forces Talks (LFT) 2026 concluded successfully on Tuesday at the Army Sports Control Board’s conference room in Dhaka Cantonment.
The discussions, held on 26-27 January, were a follow-up to the 9th LFT held in the United States from 8-10 September 2025.
Delegations from both countries’ armies participated, focusing on enhancing bilateral military cooperation. Bangladesh was represented by a 22-member team led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Badrul Haq, SPP, AFDWC, PSC, Engineers.
The US delegation, comprising four members, was led by Major Michael Jacob Oster of the Security Cooperation Division, US Army Pacific Command (USARPAC).
Brigadier General Mohammad Humayun Kabir, SUP (BAR), SPP, NDC, PSC, MPhil, Director of Military Training, attended the opening and closing ceremonies.
The talks covered military collaboration, skill development, and strategic cooperation. Both sides stressed joint training exercises, technology transfer, and improving operational capabilities.
Innovative training methods and joint drills were discussed in detail to strengthen military readiness. Delegates reaffirmed their commitment to further strategic cooperation between the two armies.
The meeting also focused on regional security and coordinated responses to natural and man-made disasters. Technical support and preparedness to tackle global challenges were highlighted as crucial for maintaining regional peace and security.
Earlier, the 8th Bangladesh-US Land Forces Talks were held in October 2024.
