Bangladesh University (BU) has celebrated the World Pharmacist Day 2025 with a series of events. Organised by the university’s Pharmacy Department, the day featured a rally, discussion, interactive teacher-student sessions, and public awareness activities.

This year, the international theme for the day was “Think Health, Think Pharmacist.” The primary aim of the celebration was to highlight the crucial role pharmacists play in safeguarding public health and strengthening the healthcare system.

During the discussion, speakers emphasised that skilled and ethical pharmacists are not limited to managing medications. They also contribute significantly to health policy formulation, research, and preventive care.

The speakers further noted that ensuring sustainable development in healthcare requires the involvement of pharmacists, making their role essential in policymaking and community-based health awareness initiatives.

The discussion featured Professor Dr SM Abdur Rahman, advisor of the Pharmacy Department; Professor Dr Md Tajul Islam, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics; Professor Abul Kalam Azad, chairman of the Pharmacy Department; and Student Welfare Advisor Rubaiyat Saimum Chowdhury, among others.

Through the student-teacher participation in the community engagement activities, Bangladesh University reaffirmed its commitment to producing skilled, ethical, and forward-thinking pharmacists.
