British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday at his office in the Parliament.

The meeting was later briefed to the media by the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Hossain Shadhin .

According to him, the British High Commissioner expressed optimism that relations between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom would be further strengthened during the tenure of the current government.

During the meeting, both sides discussed proposals for UK cooperation in technical education institutions and skills training programmes aimed at developing human resources in Bangladesh.

They also exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade and increasing British investment in Bangladesh, which is expected to create new employment opportunities in the country.

High Commissioner Cooke also expressed British interest in potential investment in the aviation sector, particularly following the operationalisation of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were also present at the meeting.
