After a successful tri-nation series win in South Africa under the leadership of Azizul Hakim Tamim, the Bangladesh Under-19 team is now gearing up for their next challenge. The young Tigers are currently training in Rajshahi as they prepare for a five-match home ODI series against Afghanistan Under-19s, set to begin later this month.
Tamim’s side recently toured England for a five-match youth ODI series, but poor weather led to three matches being washed out. The remaining two matches were split, with each team winning one, resulting in a 1–1 drawn series.
Now back on home soil, the Bangladesh U19s are focused on their upcoming assignment against Afghanistan, who are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on 20 October. The series will serve as key preparation ahead of two major youth tournaments later this year.
The opening two matches of the series will be played at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on 28 and 31 October. The final three fixtures will be held at the Rajshahi Stadium on 3, 6 and 9 November respectively.
This series forms part of Bangladesh’s build-up to the ACC U19 Asia Cup, scheduled for the first week of December. That will be followed by the ICC U19 World Cup in Zimbabwe in January, where Bangladesh will look to make a strong impression on the global stage.
