The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc will hold a larger demonstration on Thursday.
The move comes a day after several opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, were detained and later released during protests in Delhi, reports NDTV.
The protesters are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also join the demonstration.
The protest follows a coordinated strategy finalised on Wednesday at a meeting hosted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. To ensure representation from various constituents of the INDIA alliance, opposition parties arranged three buses to transport Members of Parliament (MPs) together.
The buses were stopped at Ashoka Road, near the Shangri-La hotel, about two kilometres from Jantar Mantar.
Following the interception, opposition leaders staged a sit-in and chanted slogans demanding the resignation of the election body chief. Authorities detained the protesters before later releasing them.
