The Bangladesh U-17 women’s football team will take on hosts Bhutan in their return match of the four-nation SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship today, Friday, at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm Bangladesh time.
In the day’s second fixture, India will meet Nepal at the same venue at 6 pm.
Bangladesh currently sit second in the league table with nine points from four matches. Bhutan, meanwhile, remain at the bottom of the table, having failed to register a single point in their four outings. India lead the standings with a perfect record of twelve points from four matches, while Nepal are in third place with three points.
Bangladesh started their campaign with a 3-1 win over Bhutan, before suffering a 2-0 defeat to India. The girls in red and green bounced back strongly with a 3-0 victory over Nepal and followed it up with a 4-1 win in the return leg.
Bhutan, on the other hand, have endured a difficult tournament, losing all four of their matches. They went down 3-1 to Bangladesh, 2-1 to Nepal, and suffered heavy defeats to India by 8-0 and 5-0 margins, effectively ending their hopes of progressing in the competition.
The Bangladesh U-17 squad features Yearzan Begum, Meghla Rani Roy, Tania Akter Fomi, Arpita Biswas Arpita, Fatema Akter, Umma Kulsum, Arifa Akter, Mst Almina, Mst Resme Akther, Thuinuye Marma, Sauravi Akanda Prity, Kranuching Marma, Reya, Alpi Akter, Protima Rani Joba Rani, Sorovi Rani, Mamoni Chakma, Ishita Tripura, Purnima Marma and Mst Amena Khatun.
