BFF Academy U-17 team earned a proud achievement in China by finishing runners-up at the Tianyu Liufang Cup 2025 International U-17 Football Tournament, held in Lijiang from 20 to 27 September.
A total of 16 teams from eight countries, divided into four groups, competed in the tournament. The young side from Bangladesh impressed with dominant performances against strong opposition, advancing all the way to the final.
In Sunday’s title decider, the BFF Academy boys faced Wuhan U-17, a leading academy side from China’s top league. Despite playing with courage and creating several chances, Bangladesh fell 3-0 in a hard-fought contest. The team struck the crossbar more than once and pushed forward throughout, but were denied a breakthrough.
While the final ended in disappointment, the overall campaign was a major success. Forward Tahsan Khan emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, winning the Golden Boot award for his outstanding finishing.
The performance not only highlights the progress of Bangladesh’s youth football structure but also stands as a milestone for the BFF Academy programme, offering inspiration for future international challenges.
