Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is set to organise a three-day film festival titled Cholochitro Utsab: Ekal-Sekal from 9 to 11 August.
The festival will be held at the National Theatre Hall, featuring six films from different periods of Bangladeshi cinema.
All screenings will be open to audiences free of charge.
The festival will open on 9 August with Mezbauer Rahman Suman’s acclaimed film Roid, which will be screened at 6pm.
The film, released during Eid-ul-Azha, has received praise from audiences at home and abroad. It stars Mostafizur Noor Imran and Nazifa Tushi.
Later that day, at 8pm, audiences will have the opportunity to watch Zahir Raihan’s landmark film Jibon Theke Neya.
The 1970 film features legendary actors including Razzak, Suchanda, Rosie Samad, Khan Ataur Rahman, Rawshan Jamil and Anwar Hossain.
On the second day, 10 August, Khan Ataur Rahman’s Abar Tora Manush Ho will be screened at 5:30pm, followed by Mohammad Nuruzzaman’s Mastul at 8pm.
The festival will conclude on 11 August with Amjad Hossain’s Dui Poishar Alta at 5:30pm.
The closing screening, at 8pm, will feature Akash Hossain’s The University of Chankharpul.
Organised under the theme “Cinema for all, art and culture for all”, the festival is being held with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
The Drama and Film Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is overseeing the event.
