Bangladesh produced another commanding performance to reach the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship final, sweeping aside Uzbekistan 3-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final in Islamabad.
The victory extended Bangladesh’s impressive run in the tournament and kept alive their hopes of lifting the regional title.
Bangladesh controlled the contest from the opening set. Harshit, Sujan and their teammates claimed the first set 25-21 before raising their level again to take the second 25-20.
Uzbekistan tried to respond in the third set and stayed competitive during the early exchanges. Bangladesh, however, soon regained control with a series of quick points, breaking their opponents’ resistance before sealing the match 25-19 to book a place in the final.
The closing stages briefly turned heated after the final whistle as players from both teams exchanged words. Match officials stepped in immediately and restored order before the situation escalated.
It was Bangladesh’s fifth victory of the tournament. The side had already defeated Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Sri Lanka during the round-robin stage, with their only defeat coming against hosts Pakistan in straight sets.
Bangladesh had opened the competition with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Uzbekistan. They looked far more convincing in the semi-final, winning without dropping a set.
The other semi-final between hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka will determine Bangladesh’s opponents in Wednesday’s title decider.
