Bangladesh and New Zealand have expressed interest in broadening bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, tourism, higher education, and food processing.
The discussions took place at the Prime Minister’s Office during a meeting between Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and New Zealand High Commissioner to Bangladesh David Pine.
Both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade, and exploring new avenues of mutual cooperation. Pine emphasised New Zealand’s keen interest in deepening engagement with Bangladesh across the identified sectors.
He also praised Bangladesh’s proactive efforts to address the impacts of global climate change and encouraged the country to assume a stronger leadership role on the issue internationally.
Mr Kabir noted that, while Bangladesh remains highly vulnerable to climate change, it continues to pursue sustainable development, environmental protection, and a green economy. He added that Bangladesh is ready to provide effective global leadership in confronting climate challenges.
