Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain reaffirmed Bangladesh pursues a balanced foreign policy, maintaining strong relations with both the United States and China and there is no reason for concern over Dhaka’s engagement with Beijing on Tuesday.

While speaking at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said Bangladesh’s diplomatic strategy emphasises equilibrium in its relations with all nations. He said, “We have deep relations with the United States and extensive economic relations with China.”

He is confident the country will continue to uphold this balanced approach, the Adviser added.

He also expressed his belief that successive governments in Bangladesh will maintain the same policy of neutrality and constructive engagement with all partners.

In response to another query, Touhid said, “I think Bangladesh receives significant attention in the international arena compared to its size and strength.”

“Those who are bigger and stronger than us naturally have greater visibility. But considering our economic and political position, our visibility is not small- we are maintaining our presence everywhere,” he said.
