Bangladesh were knocked out of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup on Sunday after a tense 25–18 defeat to Chinese Taipei in their first ever appearance in the semi finals.
Rupali Akter’s side made a strong start when the captain earned the opening point of the match, but Chinese Taipei responded quickly and built early momentum. Bangladesh wrestled back control midway through the first half by stopping a visiting raider to level at 4–4, then edged ahead 5–4 before the contest swung again.
Chinese Taipei established an 8–6 lead as Bangladesh struggled to maintain consistency, though the hosts showed resilience by recovering to 9–9. Another tight exchange followed and Bangladesh reached the interval trailing 9–8.
After the break, Bangladesh briefly reclaimed the lead with a super tackle that made it 10–9. However, their opponents forced the first all out of the match in the fourth minute of the second half, opening up a 15–12 advantage. Two further points widened the gap to five as Bangladesh began to lose the initiative.
Although the hosts clawed back a lone point and continued to fight, they were unable to keep Chinese Taipei from dictating the final stages. Repeated concessions in both raid and defence allowed the visitors to close out the match, leaving Bangladesh to exit the tournament at the semi final stage after a hard fought contest.
