Bangladesh ‘A’ are in Group A with Sri Lanka ‘A’, Afghanistan ‘A’, and Hong Kong, China in the upcoming Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has renamed the former Emerging Asia Cup and announced its new schedule under this title.
Group B features Pakistan ‘A’, India ‘A’, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. While the ‘A’ teams of five countries including Bangladesh will compete, the main teams of UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong, China will take part in the tournament.
The eight-team competition will be held in Qatar from November 14 to 23. Two matches will take place each day until November 19. The semifinals are scheduled for November 21, followed by the final on November 23.
Bangladesh ‘A’ will begin their campaign on November 15 against Hong Kong, China. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will be held on November 16. The two rivals have been placed in the same group once again, which has almost become a tradition in Asian cricket. In the last Asia Cup, they faced each other three times, and India won all three matches including the final.
In this edition, the top teams from each group will move directly to the semifinals. So, unless both reach the final, there is little chance of another India-Pakistan meeting. Bangladesh will play Afghanistan on November 17 and Sri Lanka on November 19 in their remaining group matches.
