Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ team made a stirring start to their ACC Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars campaign, edging Sri Lanka Women’s ‘A’ by four runs in a tense, low-scoring contest at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on 14 February 2026.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first but were bowled out for 115 in 19.5 overs. Despite a late collapse, their bowlers produced a disciplined performance to restrict Sri Lanka to 111 for 9 in 20 overs and seal a narrow victory.

Openers Ishma Tanjim and Shamima Sultana laid a solid platform with a 48-run partnership. Shamima scored 17 from 19 deliveries before falling, while Ishma top-scored with a composed 30 off 25 balls. Sharmin Sultana added stability in the middle order with a fighting 29 from 27 deliveries.

However, Bangladesh’s innings lost momentum dramatically after Sharmin’s dismissal at 104. The side lost six wickets for just 11 runs in the final 19 balls, slipping from a promising position to being bowled out one delivery short of the full quota. Apart from the top order, only Rubaiya Haider Jhilik reached double figures, contributing 11 off 20 balls. For Sri Lanka, Sachini Nisansala impressed with outstanding figures of 4 for 14.

In reply, Sri Lanka began cautiously. Captain Fahima Khatun struck early to remove Anushka Sanjeewani for 6, while Sanzida Akter Meghla dismissed Sanjana Kavindi after she had scored 17. Sri Lanka managed 34 for 2 at the end of the powerplay.
