All import and export operations through Banglabandha, the country’s only four-nation land port, and India’s Fulbari land port will remain suspended on Saturday due to a public holiday in India marking its 80th Independence Day.
The suspension of trade, covering all commodities including stone, will be effective from morning till afternoon. However, despite the suspension of trade, the cross-border movement of passport-holding passengers between the two countries will continue as normal.
Banglabandha Land Port Manager Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the development.
It has been reported that the decision to halt road-route import-export activities through the Banglabandha-Fulbari corridor was taken because of the government holiday in India.
Port sources stated that after the one-day closure, normal trade activities through the land port will resume on Sunday morning.
