After two consecutive cuts, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased gold prices in the domestic market. Under the new decision, the price of 22‑carat gold has been hiked by Tk5,482 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk228,556.
BAJUS announced the hike in a notice on Saturday morning, saying the revised prices took effect from 10am.
The association said the adjustment was made in response to rising pure gold prices in the local market.
According to the new price list, 21‑carat gold now costs Tk218,292 per bhori, 18‑carat Tk187,440, and traditional method gold Tk153,148.
VAT is included in the sales price, so jewellers cannot charge it separately, though labour charges will apply depending on design. Silver ornament VAT decisions will be announced later.
BAJUS noted the new rates will remain in force nationwide until further notice.
The last adjustment came on 25 June, when BAJUS cut the price of 22‑carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori, setting it at Tk223,074. At that time, 21‑carat gold was priced at Tk213,043, 18‑carat at Tk182,950, and traditional gold at Tk149,474. Those rates also took effect from 10am that day.
