The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices again, increasing the rate of 22‑carat gold by Tk1,108 per bhori.
Under the revised pricing, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22‑carat gold now costs Tk2,35,146, including VAT. BAJUS announced the decision in a press release Tuesday morning, with the new rates taking effect at 10am.
The association said the adjustment was prompted by a rise in the price of pure gold, locally known as tejabi, and was set after reviewing overall market conditions.
At the new rates, 21‑carat gold is Tk2,24,590 per bhori, 18‑carat gold Tk1,92,864, and traditional gold Tk1,57,522. BAJUS said the prices will remain effective nationwide until further notice.
Making charges will vary by ornament design. As VAT is already included in retail prices, jewellers are prohibited from charging it separately. Existing BAJUS guidelines on exchanges and purchases, excluding VAT, making charges and gemstones, remain unchanged.
On 8 August, BAJUS last adjusted prices, raising 22‑carat gold by Tk4,374 to Tk2,34,038 per bhori. With Tuesday’s revision, gold prices have now been adjusted 101 times this year — 50 increases, 50 decreases, and one VAT adjustment.
In 2025, the local market saw 93 adjustments, including 64 hikes and 29 cuts.
