Veteran actor Babita has been recognised with the Who’s Who honour at a ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Dhaka on April 18, adding another accolade to her long list of achievements.

The award was handed over by chief guest Yasser Khan Chowdhury in a programme that also honoured individuals from multiple sectors, including arts, education, agriculture, journalism, entrepreneurship and social work.

Founded in 1849, Who’s Who is an international organisation that profiles notable personalities from around the world, highlighting those considered influential in their respective fields.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Babita said the recognition carried deep personal meaning and reminded her of her father, who was familiar with the organisation. She dedicated the award to younger audiences, expressing hope that it would encourage them to pursue meaningful work.

Organisers said this year’s recipients were selected for their sustained contributions and role in strengthening national development and cultural identity.

Babita, one of the most celebrated figures in Bangladeshi cinema, also received the Ekushey Padak earlier this year. Although she has stepped away from regular film work in recent years, she indicated she remains open to returning if a strong script and character come her way.
