Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum on Saturday said that importance should be put on prevention than cure to improve overall state of national health.
She said, “If we do not focus on disease prevention, even if we turn the entire country into hospitals, it will not be possible to accommodate all patients. Therefore, we must all work together to emphasize disease prevention. Doctors, nurses, and ordinary people wherever we are, we need to focus on increasing awareness rather than just treatment.”
The adviser made these remark while addressing as chief guest at a function on groundbreaking work of the Chattogram Heart Foundation Hospital and Nursing Institute at Kattali in the city.
The health adviser said, “We are lagging behind in many areas. We are behind from where we should have been in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this, we must work together to push these efforts forward.”
During the inauguration of the Heart Foundation Hospital and Nursing Institute building in Chittagong, additional remarks were given by MA Salam, president of the Chittagong Heart Foundation, MA Malek, Editor of the Daily Azadi newspaper, SM Abu Tayyab, vice president of the executive committee of Chittagong Heart Foundation, and Dr Prabir Kumar Das, Professor at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, the health advisor also visited the Lions Charity Eye Hospital and Chittagong Kidney Foundation Hospital in the city.
