Singer and actor Ariana Grande will step away from the public eye after completing her Eternal Sunshine Tour, with her representative citing “ongoing public scrutiny” as one of the reasons behind the decision, reports Variety.
According to People, Grande plans to take a break from public-facing work and appearances once the tour concludes on 1 September.
In a statement to the publication, Grande’s representative said the Grammy-winning star is looking forward to ending the tour on a positive note before taking time away from the spotlight.
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour. She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
The representative added that Grande has cherished the experience of touring and remains grateful for her fans’ support.
“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
People also reported that Grande has withdrawn from the upcoming West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George, in which she was expected to star opposite Jonathan Bailey.
No further details have been provided regarding the reported decision.
Despite planning a break, Grande is set to appear in Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy Focker-in-Law alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller.
The film is scheduled for release ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, although it remains unclear whether her planned hiatus will affect promotional activities.
The representative did not elaborate on the nature of the “public scrutiny.”
In recent years, Grande has frequently been the subject of online discussion about her appearance, with renewed speculation following the release of her music video for Petal, which prompted concern from some fans over her weight loss.
Grande rose to global superstardom with her role as Glinda in the 2024 film adaptation of Wicked opposite Cynthia Erivo.
The blockbuster earned multiple Academy Award nominations, including a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Grande, and won Oscars for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.
She later reprised the role in Wicked: For Good, which also enjoyed strong commercial success.
