The government has invited proposals for grants for full-length and short films. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced that a total of 32 films, including a maximum of 12 full-length films and a maximum of 20 short films, will be given grants in the 2025-2026 financial year.
The ministry’s notification published on January 8 said that the complete package including the story, screenplay and names of the actors of the film must be submitted to the Ministry of Information by 5 pm on January 19.
The notification further said that only domestic filmmakers and producers can apply for grants. Only producers, directors, film personalities and professionals in related fields can submit stories.
In the case of full-length films, the work must be completed and submitted within 18 months and documentaries within 24 months after receiving the first check of the grant. In the case of short films, it must be completed within 12 months. Screenplays of any film that is in production, completed or released will not be submitted for funding. All screenplays must be original.
Applicants for funding must also submit 12 copies of the full proposal, including the overall production plan, list of artists and crew. 20 screenplays, including full-length and short-length, will be selected for funding from the submitted films.
Only producers, directors, film personalities and professionals in the relevant fields can submit stories, the notification further stated.
The minimum length of a full-length film should be 70 minutes and for short films, it should be up to 30 minutes.
