Shimex International Managing Director (MD) Md Anwar Shahid and GD Assist MD Syed Moinuddin Ahmed have been elected to lead Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) for the 2026–2027 term.
The election results were announced on 30 April at the chamber’s premises following the completion of the election process by BMCCI Election Board Chairman Shahab Uddin Khan.
The new leadership is expected to steer the chamber towards strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia, the chamber said in a press release.
Jaycee Shipping Agency MD M A Bakar was elected senior vice-president, while Aero Speed International CEO Shaikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun and Arafat Motors & Machineries Proprietor Md Arfatur Rahman were elected vice-presidents.
Grasshopper Corporation MD M Mahmudur Rashid and Expo Pro CEO Md Mamunur Rahman were elected joint secretary generals, and WorldBD Trade MD Ahmed Kabir was elected treasurer.
The BMCCI board also includes Biopharma MD Dr Lokiat Ullah, BBS Cables Chairman Mohammad Badrul Hassan, Bengal International Agencies Proprietor Mohammed Shahjahan, SP Agro Care CEO Abu Hena Mastafa Kamal, Savor International MD Md Faizul Alam, US Energy and Power MD and CEO Md Shahjahan Shaju, Shah Fatehullah Textile Mills Director Jobayer Ahmed, and KM Air Aviation CEO Kazi Fahad Mostafa.
In his remarks, Anwar Shahid said the chamber has played a key role in advancing trade and investment ties between the two countries and will continue to expand that role.
Outgoing BMCCI President Shabbir A Khan said recent initiatives, including engagements in semiconductor innovation and halal economy discussions, have strengthened bilateral cooperation and expressed confidence in the new board’s leadership.
The event was attended by outgoing and newly elected board members and the election board.
