A shooting incident in the Kuais Chalitatali area under Bayezid Police Station left an auto-rickshaw driver injured on Thursday afternoon, marking the second attack in the area within 24 hours.
The injured, Md Idris Ali, 37, son of the late Yusuf from Bahaddarhat Kacha Bazar in Chandgaon Thana, was shot in the knee while driving his auto-rickshaw around 1:45 pm, according to a police officer at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), who requested anonymity.
Idris Ali collapsed on the road but was rescued by local residents and rushed to CMCH for treatment. Doctors confirmed that he sustained a gunshot wound to the knee and is currently being treated in the casualty ward.
This incident occurred exactly 24 hours after a shooting on Wednesday evening in the same area during an election campaign event.
In that attack, Sarwar Hossain Babla, 35, was killed, and BNP candidate for Chattogram-8 constituency Ershad Ullah sustained a leg injury. Ershad Ullah is now receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
