Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami on Saturday after British authorities sought their extradition over rape and human trafficking charges.
According to the Associated Press, the brothers were taken into custody on a sealed warrant. US Marshals Service spokesperson Brady McCarron confirmed the arrests but did not disclose the specific charges.
The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said prosecutors had decided to bring additional charges against the brothers in connection with four more alleged victims.
“Following their arrest in the US, the CPS will be seeking their extradition in relation to the original 21 charges they face, as well as the further charges which we have decided to prosecute,” the prosecution service said in a statement.
Andrew Tate rose to prominence as a social media figure known for content widely criticised as misogynistic. He first gained widespread public attention in 2016 after appearing on the UK edition of Big Brother. Producers removed him from the programme six days later after a video emerged appearing to show him assaulting a woman.
In May 2025, UK prosecutors charged the Tate brothers with a total of 21 offences, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.
According to the BBC, Andrew Tate faces 10 charges linked to three alleged victims. They include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain. Tristan Tate faces 11 charges connected to one alleged victim, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking.
The brothers were also arrested in Romania in 2022 after authorities accused them of taking part in a scheme to lure women for sexual exploitation, according to the Associated Press. They have denied all allegations against them.
