BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said Awami League never expresses remorse for its wrongdoings, which has once again been proved by the attack in New York. He made the remarks in a post on his Facebook page around 4:15pm on Tuesday.
Fakhrul writes, “What happened at the New York airport once again proves that Awami League does not regret its misdeeds.”
Calling on all to remain patient for the sake of the party and the country, the BNP leader said, “Every injustice committed by Awami League so far will be ultimately tried under the rule of law.”
Several political leaders accompanied Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on his trip to New York on Monday (local time) to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
On their arrival at John F Kennedy International Airport in New York, they were confronted with protests and harassment by Awami League supporters.
During the scuffle, eggs were thrown, targeting NCP member secretary Akhtar Hossain. Following the incident, New York police arrested a local Jubo League activist, Mizanur Rahman, after identifying him from video footage.
