Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ali Akbar Khan has assumed the role of acting chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bangladesh Police.

The appointment was formalised through a notification issued by Police Headquarters on 1 June 2026.

Born on 21 September 1967 in Chandpur district, Khan joined the Bangladesh Police in 1995.CID

He has earned widespread acclaim for his dedication, skill, and integrity throughout a career served in various vital units, including Range Police, Police Headquarters, and the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

In pursuit of professional excellence, Khan has attended numerous international training sessions, seminars, and workshops.

Significant among these are a programme in Italy titled “Promoting Regular and Legal Migration, Preventing Human Trafficking, Discouraging Irregular Migration and Repatriating Irregular Migrants,” and a workshop in the Maldives on “Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants (TIP/SOM) Data Collecting for South Asia”.
