The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has moved Abahani and Mohammedan’s home matches from Cumilla after complications over the use of Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium emerged two rounds into the Bangladesh Football League season.
Both clubs had initially been assigned the Cumilla venue for their home fixtures. However, local sports authorities want to use the stadium for other competitions, forcing the BFF to relocate the clubs’ remaining home matches.
Abahani will now play their remaining home fixtures at Mymensingh District Stadium, while Mohammedan are set to move to Bir Shreshtha Ft Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
The change has already affected Mohammedan’s upcoming league match against Arambagh Krira Sangha. The fixture, originally scheduled for Friday, has been moved to Saturday in Munshiganj.
The venue switch could create further scheduling challenges in Munshiganj. If Mohammedan play all their remaining home matches there, three clubs will use the stadium for home fixtures this season.
The stadium’s lack of floodlights means organisers cannot stage two matches there on the same day. The BFF will therefore need to adjust the league fixture list to accommodate the revised venues and avoid scheduling clashes.
