Al-Ittihad have parted ways with head coach Laurent Blanc after a 2-0 loss to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League on Friday. The club confirmed the decision on Saturday.
In a statement, Al-Ittihad said the contract with Blanc and his staff had been ended. The club also noted they are searching for new technical staff who match their ambitions.
Blanc took charge in July last year and enjoyed early success. Under him, Al-Ittihad won the league title and the King’s Cup, completing a domestic double.
The new season, however, started with setbacks. Al-Ittihad lost to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final and then again in the league. They now sit third in the table, three points behind Al-Nassr.
