The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) on Tuesday signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Italy-based defence manufacturer Leonardo S.p.A to procure Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role combat aircraft.
The verified Facebook page of Bangladesh Air Force confirmed the development on Tuesday.
The signing ceremony took place at Air Force Headquarters in Dhaka, in the presence of Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and the Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Antonio Alessandro. Senior officials from the Armed Forces Division and representatives from Italy were also in attendance.
The Eurofighter Typhoon, developed through a consortium of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain, is regarded as one of the most advanced multi-role combat aircraft in service today. Known for its high speed, agility and advanced avionics, the Typhoon plays a key role in the air fleets of several European nations.
Under the LOI, Leonardo S.p.A will supply Eurofighter Typhoon jets to the Bangladesh Air Force for integration into its modern frontline combat fleet.
