Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) Co Ltd, a Chinese company, has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a ready-made garment (RMG) manufacturing facility. The agreement was formalized today, 9 December at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka.
The company plans to invest $10.32 million in the BEPZA Economic Zone at Mirsharai, Chattogram. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for 3,158 Bangladeshi nationals.
The factory will produce a diverse range of apparel. Its knitwear output will include ladies, kids, and men’s tops, T-shirts, trousers, and shorts, with an annual production target of 1.56 million pieces. The woven garments line will manufacture ladies, kids, and men’s jackets, pants, and shorts, targeting 4.01 million pieces annually.
Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion), signed the agreement on behalf of BEPZA. Mr Li Qingqi, general manager of Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) Co Ltd, signed for the investing company. The ceremony was witnessed by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain.
The Executive Chairman welcomed the investor, reiterating BEPZA’s commitment to providing seamless support and a robust operational environment for businesses to thrive.
The event was attended by several senior officials from BEPZA, including ANM Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Md Khorshid Alam, executive director (Enterprise Services); and Samir Biswas, executive director (Admin). Also present were ASM Anwar Parvez, executive director (Public Relations); Md Fazlul Haque Mazumder, executive director (Investment Promotion-Addl Charge); and Company Advisor of Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) AZM Azizur Rahman, alongside other senior BEPZA officials and company representatives.
