Attorney General Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal on Sunday sought priority hearing in the High Court in the death reference and appeal linked to the rape and murder cases of eight-year-old Asiya of Magura and Ramisa of Pallabi in Dhaka.
He placed the request before a special High Court bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja.
He told the court that the state side would not seek any adjournment in hearings of death references and appeals related to cases of women and child abuse pending before the bench.
Meanwhile, another High Court bench accepted a jail appeal filed by prison authorities in the case of Sohel Rana and Swapna Akhter. They were sentenced to death for the rape and murder of eight-year-old Ramisa in Pallabi.
The bench comprising Justice Mohammad Ali and Justice Md Saiful Islam accepted the appeal for hearing and passed the order.
During the hearing, the Attorney General, representing the state, also raised the issue of preparing a paper book to ensure speedy disposal of the death reference and appeal.
The court said a copy of the order was sent to the concerned wing on Sunday.
