Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) is set to host ‘Earth & Memory’, the third solo exhibition of contemporary Bangladeshi artist Biplab Biprodas, at its La Galerie from June 5 to 10.
The exhibition will open on Friday at 6 pm and remain open daily from 3 pm to 9 pm.
Inspired by the landscapes and ecology of the Sundarbans region, Earth & Memory explores themes of land, memory and human existence through abstraction, layered textures and atmospheric compositions. Drawing from rivers, mangrove forests and weathered terrains, the exhibition reflects the artist’s engagement with the rural ecologies of Bangladesh.
According to Biprodas, the works are rooted in the idea that landscapes preserve traces of human experience and collective memory. Through paintings resembling eroded surfaces and fragmented terrains, he invites viewers to reflect on the relationship between place, remembrance and identity.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Professor Mohammad Eunus as chief guest, while François Chambraud, Director of Alliance Française de Dhaka, will be present as special guest. Eminent artists Professor Rashid Amin and Professor Anisuzzaman Anis will join as honoured guests.
The exhibition is open to all visitors at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka, Dhanmondi.
