Bangladeshi short film enthusiasts have a new opportunity as the Bangladesh Advertising Filmmakers Association (ADFA) is set to provide a total production fund of Tk 25 lakh for five short films.
The initiative, titled ‘ADFA Short Fest – Season 1’, is being organised jointly by AdFA and Asen Communication under the theme ‘This is your shot’.
Five short film projects will be selected, with Asen Communication providing a total of Tk 25 lakh in production funding.
Filmmaker and ADFA managing committee member Shankha Dasgupta said the initiative aims to create opportunities for filmmakers within the community to make original short films.
“Our community has no shortage of stories or talent. What we need are opportunities and support. Through this initiative with Asen, we want to discover new voices and stories and bring five short films to the screen,” he said.
According to the organisers, eligible filmmakers from the ADFA community can submit one project individually or as part of a team. The proposed film must be fiction and have a runtime of between five and 15 minutes.
Projects can be submitted in Bangla, English or any regional language of Bangladesh. There are no restrictions on genre.
Applicants must submit a PDF containing the project title, a logline of no more than 50 words, a complete story or synopsis within 1,000 words, a director’s note of up to 300 words, the genre and proposed runtime, along with the applicant’s details.
Applicants may also include visual references or links to their previous work.
Projects will be assessed based on originality, the filmmaker’s vision, storytelling strength, cinematic potential and feasibility within the proposed budget and production timeline.
Selected filmmakers will also have the opportunity to participate in ADFA’s mentorship and development programme.
The deadline for submissions is 3 September 2026.
