Chinese actress Tang Wei has welcomed her second child, a baby boy, with her South Korean filmmaker husband Kim Tae-yong, writes VN Express.
According to Chinese media outlet Sina, the 47-year-old actress shared the happy news with close friends on 22 July.
Tang Wei revealed that her 10-year-old daughter, Summer, is excited about the family’s newest addition.
“My eldest daughter, Summer, said we will soon be able to go on trips as a family of four,” she said.
The actress also shared a painting of a young horse created by her father as a gift for his newborn grandson, who was born in the Year of the Horse.
Tang announced her pregnancy in April, describing it as an unexpected but joyful surprise.
“This came as a huge surprise to me, and of course, I am absolutely thrilled,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Despite her pregnancy, Tang continued filming, attending industry events and participating in fashion shoots during the early months before taking a break from work in May.
Tang and Kim Tae-yong have been married for 11 years. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Summer, in 2016.
The actress primarily lives in Beijing with her parents and family, while visiting her husband’s family during school holidays.
She has previously said the arrangement allows her to remain close to her ageing parents.
Speaking about her husband, Tang credited Kim for supporting both her family and career.
“I am deeply grateful to my husband for taking care of our family and child so that I could focus on my career,” she said.
She described the filmmaker as a “mountain” in her life, praising his steady support and saying the couple often exchange creative and professional ideas.
Tang Wei has built a distinguished acting career spanning nearly three decades.
She rose to international fame with Lust, Caution and has since starred in acclaimed films including Late Autumn, Dragon (Wu Xia), Monster Hunt and Decision to Leave.
She also serves as a global ambassador for several leading fashion and beauty brands.
