Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) warned the public against fraudsters posing as senior officials of the agency, ACC said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said that a group of people targets former secretaries and other individuals with offers to have cases dropped in exchange for money using the name and photo of Saiful Islam, personal secretary to the ACC chairman.

“Everyone is requested to stay alert. No one should be deceived by phone calls claiming to be from ACC officials,” the statement said.

The agency added that it has already taken legal action against several such groups, with many fraudsters arrested.

Citizens are urged to report fraudulent calls, messages or demands for money via the ACC’s toll-free hotline 106, or to seek assistance from the nearest ACC office or police.
