Abdus Salam, chairman of Ekushey Television (ETV), has said that freedom of speech is essential for establishing democracy.
He also urged BNP to ensure the issue is addressed if the party comes to power. He said this while addressing a gathering of editors and senior journalists organised by the party.
The programme commenced at 11am at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel in Banani, where BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman personally greeted the attending media representatives. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present at the event.
This is Tarique Rahman’s first official meeting with the media.
