The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has strongly condemned the attack on its General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad, in Mirganj of Barishal on Sunday.

In a statement, the party’s Peshajibi Council expressed deep concern, calling the assault “barbaric” and unacceptable in any civilised society.

The council has renewed its call for justice, democracy, and national renewal following the recent attack on Barrister Fuaad. It further urged authorities to take appropriate measures against the perpetrators to ensure that such attacks never occur again.

It said, “Politics is not a curse, rather it is a blessing in a democratic society. Democracy safeguards the fundamental rights of the people and promotes peaceful coexistence in a harmonious society. Without strong and visionary leadership, the true essence of democracy may be compromised, and its outcomes may come into question.”

“Barrister Fuaad is a distinctive politician, which is widely recognised for his deep knowledge and significant role in the current political landscape of Bangladesh. His contribution to the ongoing state reforms is unparalleled. This virulent anti-fascist activist showed the way to millions to demand the resignation of killer Hasina during the July 2024 uprising,” the statement adds.

During the Sheikh Hasina regime, Barrister Fuaad emerged as a defining voice of the youth for powerfully articulating their aspirations, frustrations and call for justice, democratic reform and accountability. Today, he stands as a symbol of courage, integrity and people’s will.
