Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has said that an Islamic government is necessary for the development of the Hindu community and the progress of the country.
He added that after witnessing the rule of many parties, the Hindu community of Bangladesh now wants to vote for ‘Daripalla’ (balance scale).
He made these remarks on Friday morning at the Hindu Grand Assembly held at Swadhinata Chattar in Dumuria upazila of Khulna.
The event was presided over by Krishna Nandi, president of the Dumuria upazila Sanatan branch of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Golam Parwar said, “Since independence, Hindus have been used politically. Their votes were taken to gain power, but their fate has not changed. Now, for the uplift of the Hindu community and the development of the country, an Islamic government is needed.”
He said, “The people of this country have seen the rule of the plough, the paddy sheaf, and the boat, but they have not been freed from corruption. This time, people will vote for ‘Daripalla’ (balance scale).
At the event, the Jamaat leader said his party wants a national election in February following the implementation of the July Charter and a referendum in November.
Golam Parwar said, “By implementing the July Charter and holding a referendum in November, a national election must be held in February this will fulfil the dream of a new Bangladesh.”
Among others who spoke at the assembly were Dumuria upazila Hindu Committee vice president Dr Haridas Mondal, Kanai Lal Karmakar, lecturer Prashanta Kumar Mondal, treasurer Gautam Kumar Mondal, Pallishree College principal Subhash Sardar, Magurkhali Union vice president Sujit Kumar Sarkar, Dumuria Sarbojonin Puja Mandir vice president Advocate Aposh Singh, Dhamalia Union president Gobinda Kundu, and Rudaghoya Union president Biplob Sarkar.
