Instagram, one of the world’s leading social media platforms, continues to evolve with a new feature aimed at enhancing user experience. The platform, which began its journey in 2010 as a simple photo-sharing app, has grown into a global powerhouse for communication, creativity, and digital marketing.

With over 3 billion active users, Instagram has transformed the way people connect, share stories, and even build professional identities online.

Over the years, Instagram has introduced multiple features from stories to reels that allow users to share visual content in creative ways. Reels, in particular, have become a major driver of engagement, giving users the ability to produce short, viral videos.

Listening to long-standing user requests, Instagram has now introduced a “Watch History” feature that makes it simple to revisit previously viewed reels. Announcing the update, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri said, “Many times, after watching a video, users can’t find it again. This new feature will solve that problem.”

The new tool lets users instantly locate any reel they’ve watched. To use it, open the Instagram app, go to Settings, select Activity, and then tap on Watch History. There, users will find a complete list of reels they’ve recently viewed.

With this feature, Instagram aims to make the viewing experience more seamless and user-friendly. The platform’s latest update ensures users never lose track of their favorite reels again, further strengthening its role as a hub for creativity and digital connection.

What Is Reels Watch History?

This new feature lives within your profile settings and keeps a detailed log of every Reel you’ve viewed. But it’s more than just a list—it includes powerful sorting and filtering tools to help you find specific videos. As Instagram head Adam Mosseri explains, users can sort Reels by date (oldest to newest or vice versa) and filter by date range or even by the creator. So even if you only vaguely remember a Reel, you can easily track it down.

How to Find Your Reels Watch History

Accessing this feature is simple:

  1. Open your Instagram profile.
  2. Tap the three-line menu in the top right corner.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Go to Your Activity.
  5. Tap Watch History.

From there, you’ll see all the Reels you’ve watched, complete with the sorting and filtering options mentioned above. While the rollout may take a few days to reach everyone, many users—especially in places like India—are already seeing it after updating their app.

This update is a major step forward for Instagram’s user experience, making it easier to rediscover content and manage your viewing habits more effectively.
