Following the recent BCB election earlier this month, the newly formed board of directors has taken charge, with former national team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul appointed as the full-term president. However, the start of his tenure has not been smooth, as Dhaka-based club organisers, who boycotted the election, have also decided to withdraw from all domestic leagues.
Despite the ongoing tensions, the Bangladesh Cricket Board is preparing for discussions aimed at resuming domestic competitions. A meeting has been scheduled for 22 October to address the current impasse and bring clubs back on board.
The boycott was first announced in a press conference on 8 October by Mohammedan SC councillor Masuduzzaman. Former captain Tamim Iqbal was also present, along with other club organisers. They expressed dissatisfaction over alleged irregularities in the BCB election and declared their refusal to participate in any domestic leagues unless their demands were met.
In a recent development, it has been revealed that the Dhaka First Division Cricket League is expected to begin in early November. The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) has already reached out to the clubs, and officials remain optimistic that even those previously boycotting will eventually take part.
A BCB official confirmed to Dhaka Post that player transfers are scheduled for 1 and 2 November, with the league likely to begin between 8 and 10 November.
In the previous season, First Division matches were held at BKSP 3 and 4 (Savar), PKSP 1 and 2 (Rupganj), and PHRC&S (Keraniganj). A total of 124 matches were played among 20 teams.
