The price of gold has increased again in the country’s market. This time, the price of the best quality gold, ie, 22-carat gold, has been increased by Tk3,150 taka per bhori, setting it at over Tk2 lakh. This is the highest price in the country’s history.

In a notice sent to the media on Monday night, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced that this new price will be effective from Tuesday.

According to the notice, from Tuesday, 21-carat gold will be Tk1.91 lakh per bhori, 18-carat gold will be Tk1.64 lakh per bhori, and traditional method gold will be sold at Tk1.36 lakh per bhori.

BAJUS stated that the new price has been set considering the overall situation after the price of pure gold increased in the international and local markets.

Prior to this, last Saturday night, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk1.97 lakh. That was the highest price in the country’s history at that time. However, this new price has now surpassed that record.

Even earlier, on September 29, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk1.95 lakh.

BAJUS has adjusted the price of gold a total of 61 times this year. Among these, the price increased 43 times and decreased 18 times. Last year, this number was 62 times, during which the price increased 35 times and was decreased 27 times.
