A meeting between the Gono Odhikar Parishad and the investigation commission formed centring on the attack on Nurul Haque Nur and over one hundred leaders and activists of the Gono Odhikar Parishad was held at 7:00 PM today. The meeting took place on the 2nd floor of the Supreme Court’s main building.
During the meeting, the investigation commission separately recorded statements from four individuals. Gono Odhikar Parishad’s General Secretary Md Rashed Khan, Senior Council Member Abdul Zaher, Student Odhikar Parishad’s General Secretary Nazmul Hasan, and Organizing Secretary Akhtaruzzaman Samrat separately presented their statements before the investigation commission.
After the meeting, while talking to journalists, Gono Odhikar Parishad’s General Secretary Md Rashed Khan said, “We have informed the investigation commission in detail about the incident of the attack on Nurul Haque Nur and other leaders and activists that day, and we have expected justice from them. We have said that during Sheikh Hasina’s time, we were beaten; we created the context for a mass uprising by successfully carrying out the 2018 quota reform movement and fought continuously until 2024.
“Even during the interim government’s time, despite being the force of the July mass uprising, the beating of our leaders and activists including Nurul Haque Nur is shameful for the government itself. People will lose their trust in the judiciary if this this incident does not see justice. We want to place our trust and confidence in you. Whoever is involved in the incident must be brought under the purview of justice.”
