Protests against Israel’s attack on Global Sumud Flotilla to be held Friday

A youth coalition in Bangladesh has declared it will hold a demonstration on Friday to protest Israel’s assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) and the continuing genocide in Palestine.

The demonstration, organised by the Bangladesh Youth Synergy Allianc,e is planned to take place in Dhaka on Manik Mia Avenue, starting at 3pm this Friday.

In an official release, the Bangladesh Youth Synergy Alliance stated, ‘We demand protection for the global Sumud Flotilla and the immediate release of all activists detained by Israeli forces.’

Those organising the event have asked attendees to carry banners, flags, and their own water.

GSF organisers report that one ship successfully neared the Gaza shore early Thursday before losing contact. The other vessels have been seized by the Israeli Defence Force.

Shahidul Alam, renowned photographer honored with the Ekushey Padak and the head of Drik, was also part of GSF, aboard the Amla vessel. His official Facebook page uploaded a poster for the protest to take place on Friday.

This media convoy, which is a segment of a larger worldwide campaign, seeks to break the current news and communication blockade surrounding Gaza and to show support for the Palestinian population under siege.
