A delegation from the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association (BSIA), led by President MA Jabbar, met with Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), to discuss the challenges and opportunities within the semiconductor sector.
The meeting, also attended by BSIA Directors Kamrul Ahsan Dewanjee, Ashiqur Rahman Tanim, Nahian Rahman Rochi, and Johary Bin Akhter, included the presentation of a written proposal to BIDA.
The proposal suggested organising roadshows in semiconductor-leading countries like Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and the US. It also recommended developing policies and incentives to attract investment from non-resident Bangladeshis and implementing the Semiconductor Taskforce’s recommendations.
Ashik Chowdhury acknowledged the proposals and emphasized the importance of engaging relevant ministries for timely action.
He assured BSIA leaders that their proposals would be considered seriously and noted that a full-time officer had been appointed at BIDA to oversee the semiconductor sector.
