Court denies bail to ex-secy Shahid Khan, three others

A Dhaka court has denied bail to former senior secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan and three others in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

During a hearing in the case on Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam rejected their bail petitions filed by their lawyers.

Three other accused are Md Amir Hossain Suman, Md Al Amin, and Shafiqul Islam Delwar.

During the hearing, Kamrul Hossain, a lawyer for Shahid Khan, along with the lawyers for the other accused, filed separate for their bail.

However, Additional Public Prosecutor Shamsuddin Suman opposed the bail plea. The court subsequently rejected the bail petitions and ordered the detention of the accused in jail.

Shahid Khan was arrested by detective police in the capital on 7 September and put on police remand.

Following the incident, Sub-Inspector Amirul Islam filed the case on 29 August with Shahbagh Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
