A newly restored video of John Lennon and Yoko Ono performing ‘Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)’ has been unveiled to mark the 53rd anniversary of their legendary One To One concert at Madison Square Garden (MSG).
The performance, captured during Lennon’s only full-length post-Beatles shows and the final concerts he and Yoko played together, was premiered on YouTube at the exact time it took place in 1972.
Lennon once described the MSG gigs as “the best music I enjoyed playing since The Cavern or even Hamburg.”
The video is featured in a new box set called ‘Power To The People’, an expansive new box set produced by Sean Ono Lennon, which explores John and Yoko’s politically charged New York years.
Spanning nine CDs and three Blu-ray discs, it includes 123 tracks (90 previously unreleased) alongside a 204-page book, posters, memorabilia and rare recordings.
In her preface to the set, Yoko Ono writes: “The One To One concert was our effort in grassroots politics… Rock for Peace and Enlightenment. It turned out to be the last concert John and I did together.”
Power To The People is out October 10.
Meanwhile, The Beatles Anthology project is set to return in 2025 with a new book, album and unseen 1990s footage, streaming on Disney+ from November 26.
