JCD announces full panel for upcoming JUCSU election

The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has unveiled its complete panel for the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections scheduled to be held on September 11.

Md Sheikh Sadi Hasan, president of Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall unit and a student from the Bangla 48th batch, has been nominated as the Vice President (VP) candidate. Tanjila Hossain Baishakhi, president of the 13th Students’ Union Hall, will contest for the General Secretary (GS) position.

The announcement was made on Thursday at 1:30pm by JCD Central Senior Vice President Abu Afsan Mohammad Yahia during a press conference held in front of the university’s July 24 Memorial Monument.

Other key nominations include Sajjadul Islam as Joint General Secretary (Male) and Anjuman Ara Ikra as Joint General Secretary (Female). Yamin Hawlader will contest for Education and Research Secretary, Likhon Chandra Roy for Environment and Nature Conservation Secretary, Zahid Hasan Khan for Literature and Publication Secretary, and Abidur Rahman for Cultural Secretary.

Additional nominees are Parvez Hasan Nishan as Co-Cultural Secretary, Aminul Islam as Drama Secretary, Jaber Hasan as Information Technology and Library Secretary, Towhidur Rahman Khan as Social Service and Human Resource Development Secretary, Shakil Sardar as Co-Social Service Secretary (Male), and Kazi Mousumi Afroz as Co-Social Service Secretary (Female).

In the sports category, Ujjwal Hasan has been nominated as Sports Secretary, with Ruhul Amin Sweet and Mosha Shahanaz Parveen Shanu as Co-Sports Secretaries (Male and Female respectively). Zahirul Islam and Mominul Islam have been nominated for Transport and Communications Secretary and Health and Food Safety Secretary, respectively.

The executive members of the panel include female representatives Sumaiya Sultana Chia, Happy Akter Shila, and Shayla Sabrin Nijhum, alongside male representatives Hamidullah Salman, Mehedi Hasan, and AM Rafidullah.

August 28, was the final day for candidates to withdraw their nomination papers, with the process open from 9am to 4pm.

The Election Commission will release the final list of candidates on Friday, August 29, after which the official campaign period will commence.
