Standard Chartered Bangladesh has introduced the Bangla QR payment feature on its SC Mobile App, allowing customers to make secure, instant payments by scanning merchant QR codes. This addition supports the bank’s goal of advancing a cashless society and contributing to Bangladesh’s digital economy. Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the feature enables a seamless, contactless payment experience for customers across various local markets, shops, and restaurants.
The app allows users to easily access real-time details of deposit and loan products, download statements and certificates instantly, and submit service requests directly through their mobile devices.
According to a press release, the launch event held on 25 August 2025 was attended by senior officials from Standard Chartered Bangladesh, including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for India and South Asia P D Singh, CEO of Standard Chartered Bangladesh Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Technology and Operations Officer (CTOO) Khaled Aziz, and Head of Priority and Wealth Management Faisal Haque.
Lutful Habib, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered Bangladesh, expressed pride in the new feature, stating, “We are proud to integrate Bangla QR into the SC Mobile App, furthering our role as pioneers in digital banking in Bangladesh.”
